Brighton Ambitious: Some Fragments, a play by Maria Edgeworth

The following scenes are from an unpublished play by Maria Edgeworth c.1811, found in MS Eng misc. f.897. The play has been edited from fragments of text by Ellen B. Brewster. The fragments have been joined by a title and staging devices which, it is hoped, continue to draw attention to the incomplete and fragmentary nature of the surviving source material. The play was performed on Tuesday 3rd December 2019, at the Centre for Digital Humanities at the Bodleian Library.
